PLUS a three part TV series about Wallace's life and work, provisionally titled "The Great Journey", which was filmed on location in the UK, Singapore, Sarawak, Indonesia and Brazil, but due to insufficient funding will not be finished and released until 2024.

Many other events and publications are listed below.

Very many thanks to the organisers of the events this year, and to those who attended them. There must be very few deceased naturalists/scientists, apart from Darwin and one or two others, who have been so widely celebrated in this way.

George Beccaloni, 19 December 2023.

2023 sees the 200th anniversary of Alfred Russel Wallace's birth. He was born on 8 January, but the anniversary will be celebrated during the whole year. In fact, celebrations began in 2022, as several books and articles were published in advance of the anniversary.
